Gentle Warriors: Shobhit’s Perspective

“When something like [cancer] is diagnosed… the immediate reaction is shock, but there is an element of hope… End of the day it is that hope which carries through.”

Shobit Arora’s journey began when his father was diagnosed with lung cancer. Along with his siblings, he supported their mother in caregiving. He shares what the family dealt with and how hope pushed them through the journey.

He believes a good healthcare professional can make the caregiving journey easier. He opens up about the feelings of guilt and regret that caregivers may experience.

“Caregiving should be a shared responsibility. Don’t shy away from taking support, you will be surprised how people come forward…”

Looking back at his experience, he shares few caregiving tips and why it is important to see caregiving as a collective effort. He encourages caregivers to seek support from others. He further discusses practices that helped keep his own well-being in check.
